UPDATE 630AM TUES - The first of two low pressure systems will bring accumulating snow, sleet, and freezing rain to Wisconsin tonight. The storm will begin after 3PM this evening ending early Wednesday morning with possibility of lingering impacts to the Wednesday AM commute.

Snow in Northern Wisconsin

Models are still not in perfect agreement and confidence is below average at this forecast hour on the exact location of the heaviest snow. I predict 3-6" in the vicinity of Eau Claire, Minneapolis over to Rhinelander and Iron Mountain with lighter snow accumulations across central Wisconsin and the far northwest. Roughly south of a line from La Crosse to Oshkosh, a mixture of snow and sleet is expected which lowers overall accumulations and may lead to icy or slippery roads Tuesday night.

Snowfall forecast for tonight. I'm sticking with the 3-6 zone in northern Wisconsin for now. Some of the newer solutions feel like knee jerk reactions.

Sleet/Freezing Rain South

Minor sleet accumulations are expected across the southern half of Wisconsin Tuesday night. This will cause slippery road conditions which could linger into the Wednesday morning commute on untreated roads.

Accumulating snow north, sleet, and freezing rain across Wisconsin Tuesday night ending early Wednesday AM.

Freezing rain will occur near and south of the WI/IL border. Some models show up to 0.5" of ice accretion across northeast Illinois similar to the event in northeast Wisconsin/Upper Michigan Monday morning. Be prepared for icy roads and other disruptions such as lost power, cable, or internet.

Freezing rain is expected Tuesday night in the vicinity of the WI/IL border or just south. Ice accumulations may could reach 0.5
