Wisconsin is heading into a wild weather pattern over the next few weeks. Major cold possible late next week, likely replaced by more stormy/active weather.
Next week I expect the cold to flow eastward towards Wisconsin behind two quick moving storm systems. I won't get too specific right now but it appears temperature could run close to 20F below average between Weds and Friday. We are close to the coldest time of year when average temps are in the mid 20s. This roughly corresponds to single digit highs, sub zero lows and windchills well below zero.
The last arctic outbreak we had was mainly constrained to northern Wisconsin. It's likely that this next will include all of Wisconsin and also portions of the central US. Fresh snow cover across the region will help insulate the cold. Probably not as cold as last year and I wonder how long it can last in this pattern(probably not very long?) Stay tuned!
