500mb jet streak will pass through Wisconsin tonight between 6PM and 6AM. Wind speeds at the 500mb level increase from 60 to 130 kt, impressive. In concert with 500-1250 j/kg MUCAPE and 70kt bulk shear you can see (at least partially) why there is a concern for severe weather tonight. Strong cold front passage. If May or June this would be a tornado outbreak, no question. Once storms leave western/southwest Wisconsin they are expected to become elevated. If surface moisture comes in lower it would make it harder, but there could be a two-three hour window where all severe modes are possible. Great chase opportunity unfortunately southwestern Wisconsin is difficult to chase and early sunset makes it stupid, so will not be chasing the area I'd like to this time around.
