Wisconsin Weather

Before you head out the door for the weekend, here is the latest weather information!

Heat will be the main story. Excessive Heat Warnings are in effect for a large section of Wisconsin. Temps of 90-100F, plus high humidity will drive the heat index into the 100-110F both today and Saturday. Thunderstorm activity increases Saturday night and Sunday as a cold front arrives. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible.

Wisconsin Weather
Wisconsin Rapids 5 Day forecast. Rain chances on Saturday are overnight into Sunday AM.

Saturday, Jun 30 2018- Temperatures stay warm overnight into Saturday, becoming excessively hot during the day. Looks like a repeat of today. Breezy at times. T-storms are possible across Upper Michigan and the far north during the morning which could be strong. High temps will reach the 90's with humidity-driven heat indices exceeding 100F once again.

Wisconsin Weather
Saturday high temps left, Sunday right

After a full afternoon of heating, t-storm development will occur across western Wisconsin or Minnesota. These storms may become strong to severe as they slowly push east. Timing looks mainly after dark and overnight but cannot rule out scattered activity during the late afternoon. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats.

It's possible a thunderstorm complex will form overnight into Sunday morning. Because of this strong thunderstorm chances were extended into northeast Wisconsin but this prediction is less certain. I considered using severe wording more aggressively but decided against it. We will be watching closely.

Wisconsin Weather

Sunday Jul 1, 2018 - Some relief from excessive heat via rain but the humidity will remain. Temperatures in the 80s and lower 90's are expected. Additional t-storm development and severity will depend on Saturday night . If Saturday night over-performs rain-wise, then the threat for storms on Sunday will be reduced/shoved slightly east. The opposite could occur. It's too early to say for sure which way it will go so stay tuned!

Wisconsin Weather
Sunday event would be focused across eastern Wisconsin, if at all.

Excessive is a relative term and hype is not our thing, but Friday and Saturday will be about as toasty as it gets for Wisconsin.
