Warm Start to Spring

Spring off to a warm start beginning today lasting through next week and probably into the following week. This is a warm pattern not just for Wisconsin but most of the country as well.

I think this will break winter's back and we should expect an early spring. I think so because this will cause significant snow melt unthawing process. Once the winter's accumulation of snow/ice is gone it won't come back on a long term basis with the sun angle being what it is in March. Over the last few years we've come to expect a deep snow pack holding temperatures down into May. Spring 2020 will likely be warmer because of the upcoming week..

No matter how warm spring gets cold shots can always occur well into April. This includes snowstorms, ice, etc and we are not out of the woods yet. Any snow that falls from this point on never tends to stick around long. It will be interesting to see what happens when the recently strong +AO breaks down if that will bring colder air back?
