Soaking Rain; Windy at Times with Weekend Storm

A strong low pressure system will bring one to two inches of rain and windy conditions at times - to Wisconsin this weekend. The storm may begin with a brief wintry mix at onset Saturday afternoon/evening before changing to heavy rain. A dry slot will reduce precipitation to a light mist on Sunday. This storm will linger into early next week. On Monday models suggest weak re-organization of the low somewhere over Wisconsin that could trigger light rain or snow.

Rainfall amounts could reach the 1-2" range, exceeding 2" locally by Monday (storm total). This time of year snow is usually the favored precipitation type. The arctic jet is bottled up and there's simply not enough cold air involved right now. This will be the trend until we get deeper into January. Overall not much concern over this system aside from possible mix at the onset. Windy conditions will come and go; we could reach 30-40 MPH at times.
