15-DAY FORECAST - Cold and snowy. Near record cold actually. Scattered snow showers tonight will bring minor accum. of 1-3" for some ending by mid-morning Friday. Short range models hint that these snow showers could be convective & briefly intense. Friday-Saturday look like cold snoozers, but on Sunday night our next system arrives bringing more snow to the region. Only expecting a minor impact event at this time. I know most of you are sick of the snow. Hang in there. We could easily be talking about severe weather this time next week.
By next Friday the EC forecast model is predicting a severe weather outbreak in Wisconsin (see below). This is obviously
highly prone to change. The
GFS tells a different story at the surface, but also between surface and upper levels it has big disagreement within itself. So the nod goes to EC. We all know at some point our pattern will change. Severe thunderstorms can and will occur in April and it's time to start thinking ahead. I remember back to the April 9, 2011 severe event where snow was still on the ground (in spots).
